Drilling speeds and feeds

RPM and feed for a drill, and how long it takes to reach depth.

A common rule of thumb puts feed per revolution at 1–3% of the drill diameter. Drills usually run slower than end mills in the same material; reduce speed for deep holes and peck to clear chips.
